The motion problems of a hanging chain pendulum, involving its solution of oscillation, eigenfrequency, properties, complex oscillations and energy distribution, are investigated. The present theoretical result is compared with the experiment and a method of determining the acceleration of gravity g is given. The g can be measured in this way with an accuracy of about 0. 01%. Two summation formula of the infinite series with respect to the zeros of J0(x) are educed.

A double-mode integral form projection unitary operator is introduced. Using the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators, the transformation character of the integral form projection operator is studied. The Hamihonian of double-mode quantum harmonic oscillator system with kinetic coupling is diagonalized by virtue of the integral form projection operator, and then the eigenenergy and eigenfunction of the system are accurately solved. Finally the particular case is discussed.

The equivalent resistance of 3 × n-step network is studied again. By means of virtual current method, the 3 × n-network is analyzed and a model of two-variable difference equation is proposed. The matrix transform is constructed by artifice. Based on different marginal conditions, a general formula for the inlet resistance of 3 × n-network as well as an utmost rule for the equivalent resistance of 3 ×n-network are presented. It is proved that the utmost equivalent resistance of infinity resistance network is equal to a constant.

By studying the internal wall of columniform capillary, the liquid and gas in it, and regarding the surface of the liquid as the rotational surface, we deduce the free energy functional. When the free energy functional arrives maximum, the Euler equation turns to the Laplace formula of additional pressure, and we also derivate the Young's equation by use of the moving boundaries conditions. It is a necessary condition for the two functions at the extremum for free energy functional.

When turning the glass used in the experiment to adjust the verticality between the axis of telescope and the axis of the apparatus, an interference phenomenon together with variation in width of the stripe can be seen. The reason of the phenomenon and variation of the stripe in theory are analyzed. If one knows how thick the reflector is and the wavelength of the light used in the lab in advance, one can use this phenomenon to measure the refractive index of the glass. The calculating method, data processing and error analyzing are also shown.
