A kind of special non-harmonic motion, i.e. , the transversal vibration of the symmetric double elastic oscillators is discussed, and the exact solutions under the condition of small amplitudes are obtained. It turns out that the periods is inversely proportional to the amplitudes and the deformation of the waves is independent to the amplitudes.

A new way of thinking for the arrangement of the two inertial systems S and S' in Lorentz transformation is introduced, which causes x axis and x" axis to be in opposite direction, then S and S' systems are completely symmetrical, and the deduction process becomes easier. According to the arrangement of S and S' systems, beginning with the two basic hypotheses of special relativity, Lorentz transformation is deduced strictly.
The energy postulate and the general form of the chemical potential
    . 2006, 25(9):  21-21.
    Abstract ( 989 )   PDF (404KB) ( 294 )

According to the energy postulate, the general form of the chemical potential is educed separately from thermodynamics and non-equilibrium thermodynamics, and two examples are expatiated by the general form of the chemical potential. The results show that the general chemical potential not only expands the chemical potential definition of the classical thermodynamics and field of application, but also indicates the connotation of external physical fields' contribution to the chemical potential and effect on the chemical potential. When actual problems are analyzed by applying the general chemical potential, the right conclusion is resulted in by the general chemical potential, and the discussions on problems are simple and easily understood.

The method of how to obtain the representation matrix of rotation operation with respect to Euler angles was reviewed. New formulae of Euler angle related to rotating φ around arbitrary axisμ are deduced according to cosine theorem, simple geometry relations and character theory of group. Euler angles related to rotating 2π/3 around line which passes origin and (1,1,1) are obtained employing the obtained expressions.

The cavity effect in granular matter is studied experimentally. When pulling a stick out the granular matter, it create a sustained cavity under it, and all the system's construction will be breakdown because of the cavity, the breakdown situation can be explored by the friction force of the stick. The relationship between the breakdown time t and the cavity's depth h is exponential, t is proportion to exp(h/λ) that we obtained by experiment, and it is unaffected by changing the granular size. We do an two-dimension experiment at the same time, to understand the inside situation of the granular matter clearly.

The interference of two point sources is analyzed accurately. The interference pattern and the separation of adjacent bright fringes on different sections are described. And it is found that the separation is the function of the interference order, the wavelength, the source distance, and the observation points. The computer simulation results are given also. These results also work for the interference of other kinds of coherent source.
