Abstract: There are different views in current references about the vibration source and whether it can make eight scales musical interval when the glass chimes produce sound. In this paper,the following evidence by the experiment is provided. If the rim of the glass is tapped,the air column produces sound,but if we tap the outer wall of the glass,the glass body produces sound. Thus we find out the reasons why some references think that they produce the same sound. First,some research models are incorrect. Second,measurement methods are different. For the eight scales musical interval about the＂glass chimes＂,it is proved by the experiment that it is not impossible or very difficult to produce it.
