Earnshow theorem and Braunbeck idea are two basic principles of magnetic levitation system. Their contents and scope of application are introduced.The prime stability judgment of magnetic levitation system from the basic principles is listed. According to this judgment，eight kinds of magnetic levitation systems are discussed which are classified by implement materials，physical principles and characteristic. Finally it is pointed out that each kind of magnetic levitation system has different value and prospect in application.
