The biography of Edward Mills Purcell is sketched. His discovery for the nuclear magnetic

resonance in condensed material and the innovation experiences of early research of NMR are reviewed. How he

seized opportunity，and was good at learning，applied reverse thinking mode ingeniously and made bold attempt is
