The characteristics of research - orientated teaching are introduced briefly. The emphases are put on the design and practice of the research - oriented solid state physics course. Research - oriented teaching reform attempts have been carried out in teaching goal，teaching content，teaching method，and examination mod，improving the teaching effects and the students' research quality. The exploration and practice provide new idea and methods to improve the quality of teaching and personnel training.
