Derivation of reflection wave,transmission wave and half wave loss of mechanical waves

Abstract

We have derived the expressions of reflection wave and transmission wave when a mechanical wave reaches perpendicularly an interface of two media. It is shown that half wave loss appears when a mechanical wave propagates from sparse medium to dense medium. Our analyses are helpful to understand the key concepts and physical laws of the interfacial behavior of mechanical waves.
