Demonstration experiment of multiple rainbows

摘要: 这是为大一新生设计的研究性实验.本文搭建了简单的实验光路,利用He—Ne(632.8nm)激光观察到了9级虹,以及霓、虹之间的亚历山大带,清晰地演示了多重彩虹形成的原理.实验测量的彩虹位置与理论计算一致.

Abstract: An experiment is designed for freshmen physics laboratory course. Using a student He-Ne (632.8 nm) laser and simple experimental setup, we observe up to 9th order rainbows and the Alexander's dark band between the primary and secondary rainbows. The formation of multiple rainbows is demonstrated vividly. The position of higher-order rainbows is in good agreement with the theory.
