The important contributions of Geiger to physics

摘要: 简述了盖革的生平,回顾了盖革在卢瑟福指导下进行的放射性研究,特别是与马斯登一起进行的α粒子散射实验,概述了盖革对计数器的发展和改进,介绍了盖革和博特一起用符合法对康普顿效应的研究,论述了盖革选择紧迫的实验先作,注重对年轻人的培养和满怀激情工作的风格.

Abstract: The brief biography of Hans Geiger is outlined. His research of the radioactivity under the guidance of Ernest Rutherford, especially the alpha-particle scattering experiment which he made with Marsden is reviewed. How he developed and improved his counters and how he researched the Compton effect with Bothe by coincidence method are introduced. Geiger's outstanding style of work is discussed.
