Abstract: Professor LIU Liao′s major milestones in his personal and academic life are introduced.Professor LIU had devoted himself to the research on the theory of general relativity and had contributed enormously to introducing this great theory into China and to its thriving in China. He had trained a lot of students in the field of general relativity and had published many books and papers on general relativity and its subfields，among them are curved spacetime， black hole，cosmology，wormhole，time-machine，gravitational wave，and so on.
