Abstract: Based on the series expansion, we give a theoretical foundation for the approximate period formula of a simple pendulum which proposed in Ref. [ 8 ]. With this method, we propose a higher precision formula. In comparison with other approximate expressions, the accurate degree of the present formula is increased about 1 - 2 or- der of magnitudes.
