Abstract: For a tightly wound cylindrical solenoid of finite length, the expression of self-inductance in the integral form is derived by means of the Bessel functance expansion. The two expressions of self-inductance in the series form are obtained by using the direct integration method. Some simple analysis and comparison on the two expressions are presented.
