Abstract: Morichini and Herschel＇s work on exploring the interaction between magnetic and optical is intro- duced, and the course for Faraday to discover Faraday effect is reviewed. Faraday＇ s charactersistics of the research which combines front-line science and philosophical reflection is analyzed, and Faraday＇ s innovative spirit and in- domitable perseverance in researches are also analyzed.
