Analysis of the rotation modes of the symmetric top around fixed point in gravitational field

Abstract

Abstract: In this paper，the rotation modes of the symmetric top with different initial conditions are discussed

based on the Lagrange mechanics，results of which are utilised for analysis of several classic problems concerning

the movement of the symmetric top. The paper also provides a mathematical opinion on the rotation stability of vertical

symmetric top.
