Abstract: The Coriolis force plays a significant role in various fields such as aerospace, climatology, long-range artillery and missiles, and engineering. It is also a crucial topic in College Physics. However, in daily life, the Coriolis force is often overlooked. Moreover, the conventional methods used to derive the Coriolis force in College Physics are relatively abstract, which hinders students ability to learn and apply this concept effectively. In this paper, a case study approach is employed to illustrate an analogous method for deriving the Coriolis force formula from inertial centrifugal force. Qualitative analysis is utilized to examine the direction of the Coriolis force at different latitudes when an object moves along the longitudinal, latitudinal, and radial directions. By comparing the conclusions drawn from qualitative analysis with those obtained through formula derivation, it is found that the two are essentially consistent. This method bridges the gap between the rigid formulas in textbooks and the real physical world, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the Coriolis force. It also lays a solid foundation for their future coursework and applications in engineering.
