The shape of a liquid globule in a free-falling elevator

Abstract: The shape of a liquid globule in a flee-falling elevator is calculated. The result shows that the shape of the globule near the Earth obviously departs from sphericity when it is about two or three meters, and its shape is similar to the shape of the bulgy ocean water caused by static tides. The methocks to olaserve the non-even effect of gravitational fields and to make apparatuses that can measure the curvature of curved space are given.

Key words: tidal force, shape of a liquid globule, local inertial frame, principle of minimum potential energy
