Thermodynamic stability and single-particle distribution function in quantum system at zero temperature

Abstract: By exploiting the stability of quantum dot system and applying the variational principle, we prove that its single-particle distribution function is non-increasing with respect to the energy levels at zero temperature. Our result shows that the properties of the spectral functions in a quantum many-body system is largely determined by its thermodynamic stability.
