Abstract:  Density of states is an important concept in solid-state physics and a crucial parameter in research related to solids. Both electrons and phonons have their density of states. This article introduces the density of states of electrons and phonons with mathematical language, as well as their related band structures and dispersion relations. These basic concepts can be understood deeply through some examples.
