Abstract: There is a famous 1/2 problem in the interaction energy between a conductor and an external electrical field. This paper expounds this problem from different viewpoints such as point charge model, mechanical analogy of electric media and thermodynamic relations of electric media. Meanwhile, we clarify some complex relations concerning electrostatic energy.
