The method of separation of variables for the vibration of an flexible rod with end surfaces subject to air resistance is discussed again.Generalized orthogonal relations of the complex eigenfanctions are established. The general solution is expanded in terms of complex eigenvibrations. The orthogonal relations are used to determine the coefficients in the general solution, such that it satisfies arbitrarily given initial conditions.Several cases with many boundary conditions are solved, including the case with both ends subjected to air resistance, and the case with one end fixed and the other connected to a concentrated mass and the latter connected to a spring and subject to air resistance.

The expressions for the electric potential and electric field of infinite length two-layered cylinder are obtained by solving Laplace equation.Based on the scattering theory,we deduce the optical scattering, absorption and extinction efficiencies for two-layered cylinder, and calculate the far-field spectra and near-field distributions of Au nanotube. It is found that the calculated results are same as that obtained by Mie scattering theory. Thus, our theoretical results can be well used in the studies of nano-optics.

This paper analyzes the frequency spectrum of typical vibration signal distribution and points out that the frequency spectrum of mass-spring oscillator vibration is consistent with the spectrum characteristics of quasi-periodic signal. So it no longer has the strict sense of the vibration cycle, only exists the approximate sense of quasi-periodic,and then the quasi-periodic concept of mass-spring oscillator is clarified.

A new experimental method and system is used to measure the moment of inertia. The effect of string pull impacting on the friction torque of spindle is considered by adding a standard rigid body test piece in the physical experiment measuring the moment of inertia of a rigid body, which has improved the accuracy of this experiment greatly. In addition, the time data being measured by single MCU are transported to a personal computer by means of the communication network, which is according to PLT communication and TCP/IP protocol. Then the moment of inertia of the rigid body and other physical quantities are calculated by the data process software.Thisnew experiment method and system improves greatly the accuracy of the experiment and propitious to the communication between teacher and students and prevents students from plagiarizing each other.
