Some fundamental thermodynamic problems in the system deviating from the condition of thermodynamic limit are discussed. It is shown that size effects bring to several novel characteristics and consequently some familiar conclusions in the text books of statistical physics become invalid for a finite-size system.

The maximum entropy principle is a basic law of nature, which is used to study the distribution of mixed ideal gas molecules along height in the gravitational field, the probability density distribution of molecule of each component gas is obtained, the relationship which shows how molecular number density of each component changes with height. In terms of the Monte Carlo method, computer simulation experiment is performed for studying the distribution of mixed ideal gas molecules in the gravitational field. The simulation result is compared with the theoretical one,and it is found that they are in good agreement with each other. This demonstrates that the theory is successful and the computer simulation adequately reflects the actual situation in mixed gas.

As a coherent matter wave, the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) provides a playground for the investigation of the macroscopic quantum phenomenon. The nonlinear optical lattice, which is consisted of two counter-propagating laser beams, is a powerful and widely used tool for the controlling of the dynamics of the coherent matter wave. In view of the potential applications of BEC, two or more independently grown condensates provide extra controllable degrees of freedom and can be used in many areas, such as quantum metrology and quantum com- putation. In this paper, a multi-mode description is introduced to characterize the multi-component coherent matter wave. To determine the evolution property of the multi-mode matter wave in a nonlinear optical lattice, we solve the multi-mode coupled nonlinear equations. A set of analytical bright soliton solutions are constructed with a similarity transformation.

Dynamics of a small ball falling down a slope with staircase profile, which includes the process that the small ball moves from the edge of a stair to the position where it begins to take off and the process that the small ball turns to pure rolling from relative sliding when it reaches the surface of next stair, is analyzed. When the collision in vertical direction is full inelastic collision, the speed and angular velocity of rolling at every step can be calculated.

Ultrasonic grating is a dynamic phase grating, and it is different from ordinary static phase grating. When a laser beam vertically passes through the ultrasonic standing waves, the diffraction field contains new frequency components, so its space spectrum is also changed. Based on the principle of Fourier optics, the optical field of a laser beam vertically passing through the ultrasonic standing waves in Raman-Nath diffraction is derived rigorously, and then the space spectrum of diffraction field of ultrasonic standing wave is obtained. Thus grating constant of ultrasonic grating is deduced strictly.

Quantum mechanics is the greatest scientific contrbution in the 20th century, which is also the most influenced scientific theory to human civilization in the century. But,there is confusion in the cognition to the origin of some important thoughts on quantum mechanics. The observable principle is a key way of thinking to establish quantum mechanics. There are sorts of opinions on the origin of the observable principle.Through a comprehensive analysis of reliable materials,we propose the conclusion that the thought what is called Heisenberg's observable principle, directly came from the influence of Max Born and his school,Born had clearly expressed the principle in his paper before what Heienberg did.

We adopt the red LED at wavelength of 660 nm and the blue ones at the wavelength of 450 nm to construct the LED lamp cultivating mustard, the photon flux density used is 150 μmol·m-2·s-1.The experiment includes two groups with different filling time, and each group is divided into 4 groups in which R/B respectively 9∶1,7∶1,5∶1 and one use the natural light. After 30 days cultivation,we use Arnon's method with acetone and anhydrous ethanol with proportion to 2∶1 to detect the concentration of chlorophylls of mustard. The experiment results show that the chlorophyll concentration under the LED lamp with R/B ratio 7∶1 undergoes the highest one.
