Young's interference experiment of polarized light
    . 2007, 26(6):  1-1.
    Abstract ( 920 )   PDF (314KB) ( 586 )

The basic analytic method and phenomena of electromagnetic interference is explained through the discussions of Young's experiment of polarized light within the framework of fundamental optics based on the superposition of vectorial waves, including the interference of two linearly polarized beams and the case of one linear beam passing through a pair of wave plates of arbitrary thickness. It shows that generally the spatial mod- ulation of polarization will occur at the observation plane with or without intensity modulation. These analyses indicate the important role of vectorial properties of light waves in interference and may uncover some physical effects of interference hidden when only the intensity fringes are concerned.

The vibrational model of linear polyatomic molecule is adopted, choosing atomic displacements along and perpendicular to bond axis as the internal coordinates, multidimensional coupling oscillators and outstripping quadratic power terms of the potential function, respectively, as zero order approximation and perturbation. The vibration of linear polyatomic molecule are generally solved utilizing general linear quantum transfor- mation theory and stationary state perturbation theory. Finding the solution of the oscillator' s eigenvalue and state for linear polyatomic molecule is changed into the diagonalization of semi-positive and positive definite matrices. Perturbation matrix elements, all of the different levels energy and perturbation corrects of wave function are calculated in the representation of multidimensional non-coupling oscillators. And as a example CO2 molecule is particularly solved.
