    With years' experience on teaching undergraduate solid state physics,here my considerations are illustrated on the following aspects: how to give an interesting start,chapter arrangement,common features to emphasize in sections of crystal structure,lattice vibration and band theory,the feasibility of single electron approximation,and the rationality of selection of advanced materials up- to- date to cover in the later shortened one semester course.

    Klein tunneling effect is observed in graphene. It is widely investigated because of its special optical and electrical properties. The multi- barrier structure with the same height is designed to andalyze the tunneling effect. Using the Bloch theorem,the carrier energy band with periodic barrier structure is obtained. The resonant tunneling area can be analyzed from the energy spectrum. The numerical results indicated that the required tunneling probability can be tuned by the width and the height of the barriers and wells,and the incident energy. The conductance properties can be further investigated.

    The expansion of single- particle transition operator( defined as the product of creation and annihilation operator,namely a+iajin single- particle state is obtained through the form of single- operator in occupation particle number representation,and the commutation relations for transition operator and creation( annihilation) operator are also given,then based on these conclusions,the form of general two- and n- particle operators in occupation particle number representation can be derived succinctly without distinguishing the statistical property of identical particle system.

    A unified tensor- product representation of Runge- Lenz vector about inversely- quadric and centric- force systems,including both the two- body Kepler system under gravitation and the two point- charge system under Coulomb force,is given by introducing the energy- momentum tensor of a centric- force system. Based on the unified tensor- product representation,its conservation is demonstrated in a unified form; some properties of the vector are shown and verified. Meanwhile the criteria for every kinds of Kepler movement are derived,too. Specially a simple method of deriving the energy formula for the case of elliptic- trajectory movement is displayed in the end.

    The Green function of the first kind of simply connected domain with complex crescent shape boundary is calculated by using the conformal mapping and mirror image method,which is used to solve the Green function of the first kind of closed circle formed two different position of a simply connected region,and its maps of contour line are plotted by using the mathematical software Matlab.

    On the basis of analyzing the symmetry of 2 × n order ladder resistance network and by using the recurrence relation in constructing equivalence resistance for n order ladder resistance network for arbitrary resistance load,the general term formula of n order ladder resistance network is obtained through simple equivalent transformation. The formula is applied to the piecewise calculation of equivalent resistance of n order and 2 × n order ladder resistance network and also applied to the calculation of the general formula for 2 × n order ladder resistance network. The present study reveals the close relation between the n order ladder resistance network and the 2 × n order ladder resistance network and the inner rules of them. The complexity of the research is eliminated by using this method.

    The torsional pendulum method for the experiment device measuring the moment of inertia of rigid body is improved. Adding a cylindrical casing on torsional pendulum,we find that it can not only blocked air pressure differential damping,but also keep the air viscous damping constant in the measurement process. The accuracy of measurement is improved.

    The digital speckle photographic technology combining with PC software for measuring thermal expansion coefficient is proposed. The project is feasible verified by experiments. By using the most scientific and reasonable method of least squares to process data,the optimal temperature- displacement curve is obtained. The experimental results compared with the Cu thermal expansion coefficient of recognized has 1. 2% error. In comparison with the traditional measurement methods,this approach improves accuracy and simplifies procedure. So it can be used to measure unknown thermal expansion coefficient.

This method can be easy to learn and its process is so convenient that it can avoid complex programming. The high fidelity simulation patterns and light intensity distribution curves offer much help to the experimental teaching and optical theory analysis,and meanwhile can guide students' inquiry learning and deepen their understanding of optical phenomenon and rules and thus enhance the teaching quality.

    As a great master of physics Max Born had affected and trained a large number of physicists and other scientists directly in the 20 th century. Yukawa Hideki was not the pupil of Max Born,but he was affected greatly by the academic thought of Max Born when he entered university,and he never forgot it. Yukawa Hideki treated Born as his model to learn from. They had the same thought not only on scientific problems,but also on many scientific- social issues. Max Born earned the respect of the young scientists who were not his pupil by his books.Yukawa Hideki found that Born was a predecessor who had the same personality with him. He imitated the Born's style when he studied and learned something,and obtained his success. The both sides of the story were worthy of attention by the predecessor and the young generation in China.

    Theoretical and experimental research on a usual kind of elastomer is presented,i. e.,elastic hoops are compressed on a hard surface. The relationship between the related parameters and the height the elastic hoops can reach when they are suddenly released. Our experiments show that for elastic hoops that are made of the same material,the maximum height of the hoop decreases as the radius of the hoop increases; the height increases as the thickness of the hoop increases; the height increases as the compression rate increases. The height is related to the air resistance in the experimentation environment,but has no relation to the width of the hoops. Our experiments also show that the height the elastic hoops can reach has no relation to the type of the hard surface they are compressed to. The comparison of our theoretical analysis with experiment results has shown that the fundamental physical nature of the elastic hoops' jump is the transformation of elastic potential energy to kinetic energy. Our experiment results match closely with theoretical analysis. The smart design of the experiments also illustrates a viable approach to explore such kind of elastomers.

    By combining the HPGe detector and the La Br3 detector,it is possible to make a high precision measurement of γ- ray radiation background and accordingly the particle identification of the main γ- ray sources in environment even without standard γ- ray sources for calibrations.
