The two -dimensional standing wave figures of an annular plate (Chladni patterns)as the inner boundary is clamped, are investigated experimentally and theoretically. It is found that the Chladni patterns can be precisely controlled by adjusting the frequency and position of the vibration source. Two kinds of patterns have been observed, one kind only has radial nodal lines (excepting the inner boundary)and the other has both of radial nodal lines and circular nodal lines. Furthermore, the radii of the circular nodal lines, the change rules of the eigen values, and the elastic modulus of the thin plate have been obtained. The results of experiments are consistent with the analytical solutions.

The phenomenon of superconducting magnetic levitation is essentially that the force of the magnetic moment of a superconductor in an inhomogeneous magnetic field equalizes to its gravity accurately. Because the pinning effect, the magnetic moment of the imperfect type-II superconductor is of diamagnetism or paramagnetism as the magnetic field’s change,so the superconductor may appear to be suspended over a magnetic gorge,or flied below the magnetic gorge.

The influence of inductor frequency characteristic on a RLC series resonant circuit is analyzed, and a method of roughly measuring the resonant frequency is introduced. The equations of the resonant curve half-peak bandwidths for the load resistor and LC component are derived, and the applying conditions of the equations are also discussed. Then,an inductor with high quantity factor is fabricated, and the experimental results are in agreement with the theoretical analysis. The results show that the higher the inductor’s Q is and the smaller the rL is,the narrower the resonant curve half-peak bandwidth is and the more accuracy the measurement is. In addition, the resonant curve of the load resistance is narrower than that of LC component when R is greater than 0.64 rL .

TC-Ⅱ heat conductivity measuring apparatus can be used to measure the heat transfer coefficient of material based on the stability method. However, experimental teaching activity shows that students have difficulty in determining the steady state using the TC-Ⅱ measuring apparatus due to long unsteady transition time, and the thermocouple temperature measurement needs cold end temperature compensation and the linear approximation between thermoelectric potential and the temperature. Therefore, the accuracy and repeatability of the students’measurement results are affected by the above issues. This paper proposes a temperature measurement and control improved circuit with a simple structure. It can effectively improve the accuracy and reproducibility of thermal conductivity measurement.

According to the theoretical relationship between wave velocity and surface tension,we design the experiment in a range of temperature and analyze the experimental results. The U - tubes we applied in the experiment are self-made ones. We measure the surface tension of the liquid and video the process of the liquid transition. The specialty of this process is the footage of the clock, which we also video during the experiment. If one displays our video on computer by each frame, one will see the peak of the wave and the exact time simultaneously. If one divides the distance of the peak movement with time, one can get the speed of the waves. An involved method is compared with the traditional ones in this experiment, the new method makes the experiment easier in process and precise in measurement.

Paul Ewald was a good physicist on X-ray crystallography. The lattice dynamics was a field where Max Born worked all his life. Paul Ewald and Max Born met and became friends in their earlier life, they regarded each other with respect, and appreciated the academic contribution made by each other. When they had different opinions, they could quarrel vehemently, and had nothing to harm to their friendship, because the aim they quarreled about was to find the truth of fact, and had none selfish. This kind of arguments hardly happened between politicians or litterateurs, even average persons. The attitude of scientists to face facts but not against people are worth learning for all the people in modern society.
