Within the scope of noncommutative quantum mechanics, we study the Landau problem for neutral atoms in the presence of an external electromagnetic field. By solving the time independent Sehrodinger equations in both noncommutative space and noncommutative phase space, we obtain explicit experession of Landau energy levels and corresponding eigenfunctions, at the asme time, we claculate the energy correction terms caused by noncommutativity, respectively.

The Lie symmetries and conserved quantities of the three-dimensional anisotropic harmonic oscillator are studied. When ω1/ω2/ω3 is equal to 3/2/1 and 4/3/1 , respectively, the Lie symmetries and conserved quantities of two typical three-dimensional anisotropic harmonic oscillators are also studied, and seven conserved quantites are obtained. By discussing the independence of the conserved quantities, we find that only five of them are independent.

The trial function method is used to obtain several types of solitary solutions and periodic solutions for nonlinear vibrating string equation. The results indicate that this method is simple and efficient for solving nonlinear partial differential equations.

The energy levels for the ground states of helium-like atom systems are calculated by virtue of vari- ational method and the twoparameter trial wave function which includes the correlation coordinate between the two electrons of helium-like atoms. The numerical resuhs are in good agreement with the experimental data. The calculated results indicate that the accuracy of the theoretical results can be effectively improved by introducing explicitly the correlation coordinate in the trial wave function and the correlation effects between electrons may influence the ground state energy of helium appreciably.

An experiment is designed for freshmen physics laboratory course. Using a student He-Ne (632.8 nm) laser and simple experimental setup, we observe up to 9th order rainbows and the Alexander's dark band between the primary and secondary rainbows. The formation of multiple rainbows is demonstrated vividly. The position of higher-order rainbows is in good agreement with the theory.

While the reciprocating record method is used in some college physics experiments, most of the textbooks do not explain why use it or give vague explalation. Some even use this method in a few experiments which should not use it. This may arise some problems in practical teaching and is unfavorable to cultivating students' scientific spirit. The paper studies on this problem.

By using low-frequency speaker as a vibration source and optical feedback self-mixing interference effect to convert infrasound vibration into self-mixing interference signal to detect the frequency and intensity, we design a compact and simple infrasound vibration and measurement device for experimental teaching. According to the result testing in the simulation environment of infrasound, this device can measure the infrasound signal correctly.

The Roche lobe, three Lagrangian points and the corresponding Roche potentials are calculated according to the asynchronous rotational Roche potential. The results are compared with the one which derived from the synchronous rotational Roche potential. It is found that the centrifugal force greatly reduces the gravitational acceleration at the equator. The asynchronous rotation has an obvious influence on the Roche lobe, the positions of three Lagrangian points, mass overflow from the outer Lagrangian L2 and the time of mass overflow. Therefore, it is very important significant to calculate the asynchronous rotational Roche potential in the close binaries.

The basic concepts and structure of the German Karlsruhe physics course (KPK) are systematically but briefly introduced in this paper. Such important ideas as substance-like quantities, the new concept of energy and the analogy method used in the entire course are also discussed. The authors believe that this physics course with distinctive innovative features is scientific, advanced and effective, and therefore worth adopting for reference.

A method to prove Thomson's Theorem is presented which we consider is more intuitive. We do not prove by the calculus of variations, but by directly comparing the electrostatic energy of different charge distributions. We consider both the volume and the surface distribution during the proof. We hope that this method could help first learners better understand the picture of the theorem.

Certain areas of the pattern show zero contrast in the Young's double slit experiment with a nonmonochromatic point source. Two theoretical explanations are proposed here, with one applying the contrast defined by optical path difference and another indicating it is due to wave trains cannot overlap when the length of them is less than the optical path difference.

The existence of ladder operators has something to do with commutation relation. We have deduced the basic formula of ladder.operators and successfully analyzed the ladder operators of L2 in field of central force as well as the ladder operators of energy in one dimensional harmonic oscillator. Some corrections have been done on understanding of the ladder operators.
