The electrostatic self-energy formulae for few special charged bodies are usually given in the present literature. In the past it was rare for people to study the self-energy characteristic of general charged bodies and its law.In this paper, the concept of self-energy coefficient is introduced and then the self-energy and self-energy coefficients for some familiar symmetrical charged bodies are calculated. The qualitative and half-quantitative laws about the self-energy coefficients for charged bodies are found from these results.

The procedure for numerical solution of the Roothaan-Hartree-Fock equation for helium in its ground state with self-consistent field method is illustrated through expressing the wave function of single electron as a "double-zeta" function, which is the linear combination of only two Slater-type functions. The calculated result of the ground state energy is-2.862 568 Hartree.Due to the spherical symmetry of the ground state, the Coulomb operator can be computed by solving the Poisson's equation numerically, the overlap integrals and the nuclear-field orbital energies are evaluated analytically, the criterions of self-consistent are also discussed.

The electric field of line-charge near a dielectric cylinder is calculated by employing the dielectric image method, and particularly, the expressions of electric potential and the electric field intensity in explicit forms are generated.Further, the equations of both equipotential line and electric field line are obtained. Finally, the maps of equipotential and electric field lines are plotted by mathematical software "MATLAB" for proving the results.

In order to validate the application of the Babinet's principle in the phase-type complementary screen, the mathematical model of the phase-type complementary screens is established. From the theoretical analyses, the expressions of the transmissivity of complex amplitude of the two complementary screens are obtained.By means of the optical Fourier transform method,it is verified that the expressions of the light intensity distribution in the spectrum are the same.Through computer simulation,it is shown that the light intensity distribution rules of the Fraunhofer diffraction of the parabolic cylinder phase-type complementary screens are the same as the theoretical analyses and the diffraction of the phase-type complementary screens that the distribution rules are even functions accords with the Babinet's principle.

Using the standing wave theory,we propose a standing wave method for measuring Young's modulus. The method controls deformation of wire artificially and measures basis frequency of wire to obtain its tension and then Young's modulus. In comparison with traditional methods, the standing wave method avoids measuring diameter and deformation of the wire, thus,it is easy to operate.Furthermore, its uncertainty is mainly ruled by the micrometer precision.Hence, the method has high accuracy.

A further study on the determining liquid's surface tension coefficient with the capillary tube probe method was carried out by means of a greater diameter capillary tube. The refined Rayleigh's equation proposed by Prokhorov was employed in this paper, the applicable scope of each related equations to calculate surface tension coefficient α was introduced as well. The capillary rise heights of distilled water in a diameter of 5.744 mm at a few different temperatures were measured,by experiment, using the probe method respectively,Prokhorov's equation was used for calculating α.The percentage error between the determined surface tension coefficient of distilled water and its recognized value was less than ca.0.13% compared with the recognized value. The error causes in terms of the experimental results were analyzed at the end.

This paper discusses some issues on teaching of college physics experiments. Some contents of courses in current teaching are obsolete and divorces from science and technology development, and some general national and international standards are not adopted.Several suggestions are presented to resolve these problems. The newest fundamental physical constants recommended by the committee on data for science and technology(CODATA) in 2006 are suggested to be adopted.According to national standards and scholarly customs, the expression of the uncertainty of measurement is presented. To avoid that significance figure has not a uniform definition and hence lead to ambiguity and misunderstanding, rounding vale with certain rounding interval is proposed to replace significance figure. At last, the criterion of negligible standard deviation is redefined.

Students' prior knowledge comes from every aspect of their actual process of learning.Students may have at least three different conditions of prior knowledge of the to-be-learned physics concepts. In order to get a reasonable evaluation of the initial state of the students,we should know their conditions of prior knowledge first. This is very important for introductory physics instruction.
Deriving the eigenvector of the operator λx^+μp^ by|x〉

By the representation of the coordinate eigenvector |x〉 in the Fock space, the eigenvector |ψ〉 of the operator λx^+μp^ is derived and its orthogonal relation is also proved. These results show that the eigenvector |ψ〉 satisfies the completeness and the orthogonal relations. Therefore, this eigenvector |ψ〉 can be qualified for a representation in quantum mechanics. When λ=1 and μ= 0,the eigenvector |ψ〉 evolves into the coordinate eigenvector |x〉;while λ=0 and μ =1,the |ψ〉 reduces to the momentum eigenvector |p〉.Therefore, the representation consisted by the eigenvectors |ψ〉 is an intermediate representation between the coordinate representation and the momentum representation.
