A standard integral form whose integrated function equals to the product of the screen function and a linear phase-factor, as a general definition of the Fraunhofer diffraction is proposed. The four devices for receiving this field are shown, especially the receiving set-up of image-plane and its advantages is described. Finally this article introduces to the relationship of the Fraunhofer diffraction and the Fourier transform, and corresponding three kinds of the coherent optical information processing system.

Based on the special relativity, the essential meaning of the mass of an object is analysed. It is shown that the mass of an object is a parameter which imply the total energy on the mass centre frame of reference, the inertia and attraction are both the physical characteristics of the mass.

The model of the defect of 1-D photonic crystal, which is detect in symmetry, is set up oaseu on the solution of eigen matrix. Three instances are simulated by computer. Comparing the transmission spectrum of simulation with one of F-P cavity, it is concluded that the optical path of the defect is equivalent to one of F -P cavity only in specific condition, they are not equivalent in common conditon.

As the Doppler shift of couple gratings is direct proportional to the velocity of the moving grating, the velocity can be measured by measuring the Doppler shift. Having analysed the uncertainty of velocity , the conclusion is that the relative uncertainty of measured velocity equals the relative error of grating constant.

In order to improve the present evaluation of college physics experiment, the application of developmental evaluation is proposed. Two practical modes are discussed. The first mode is to evaluate students' performance in routine experiments by themselves, partners and teachers. The second mode is to combine worksheets with observation in operating examination. Comparative studies of the two modes were carried out, showing that developmental evaluation could be effectively applied to improve the results of experiment.

The ellipsometer can measure the film thickness in a period and its refractive index. The article investigates that the farthest fathomable periodicities and the farthest film real thickness are existent when the variable incident angles are used to confirm the film real thickness. The graphics mode is proposed to describe the connection between the periodicities, the period, the film thickness in a period and the incident angle.

In a paper appeared in College Physics (Vol. 25 (5), 2006), the authors have analyzed the general Zeno paradox, but what they analyzed is not the uniform motion of the paradox, and what is more, there are errors in their deduction. In this work, by drawing a VPV model out of the general Zeno paradox and analyzing it, it is found that the relation of the initial and final status is of many-to-one for the paradox and that the general Zeno paradox is not a paradox.
